The Lighthouse Junior Choir will begin rehearsing in January on Friday evenings, and will sing at special Masses and some Sunday Masses during the year. Beginning on October 9 at 3 pm, Mary Mother of God in Oakville will resume offering a monthly Mass for Catholics (young and old) with sensory sensitivities including Autism, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD and other sensory differences. You can expect lower lighting, softer music, shorter and more literal homilies, low gluten hosts and the freedom to move around if necessary. Most important, you'll receive the Eucharist while surrounded by fellow worshipers with a warm, welcoming attitude. Feel free to bring whatever supports you may need, including fidgets, weighted blankets, noise cancelling headphones, sunglasses or comfort toys. Wednesday mornings beginning October 5: We know how hard it can be to be home with little ones. On Wednesday mornings, let us serve you, look after the little ones and help you carve out an hour a week with the Lord so He can recharge your battery! Mass is at 9:00 am, followed by refreshments and conversation in the Nativity Room until 11:15 while the children are looked after in another room by loving volunteers. Bishop Crosby is sending a delegation of 40 young adults to World Youth Day in the summer of 2023. World Youth Day (WYD) is the gathering of young people from all over the world with the Pope. It is also a pilgrimage, a celebration of youth, an expression of the universal Church and an intense moment of evangelization for the world. On Thursday, August 4th, we will be hosting our second annual Marathon of Reconciliation on the Feast of St. Jean Vianney. Please join us at anytime between noon and 8pm for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. St. Jean Vianney was known as a 'martyr of the confessional' since he would hear confessions up to 16 hours a day. Fr. Jerry and Fr. Nishil will honor this great saint by hearing confessions all day on his feast day. Please make every effort to join us for this very blessed event!

The Holy Father will visit Canada from July 24 to July 29, 2022. Pope Francis’ historic visit to Canada will provide an opportunity for the Pope to listen and dialogue with Indigenous Peoples and to address the impact of residential schools in Canada. The Holy Father will begin his Canadian visit by traveling to Edmonton, Alberta, then to Quebec City, St. Anne-de-Beaupré and then to Iqaluit, Nunavut before returning to Rome. Drawing on the theme, “Walking Together”, the Holy Father’s journey of reconciliation, healing and hope includes visits to a former residential school, Indigenous pilgrimage sites, and several private and public events, including two public Masses. The World Meeting of Families will take place in Rome from June 22, 26th. Pope Francis encourages all parishes and dioceses to consider planning or promoting initiatives for the “Family Week” , which is the time of the World Meeting of Families (WMF). It is a chance to join in unity with families and dioceses worldwide. Families from across Canada are invited to a live and virtual “Rosary for the Family”. The CCCB Standing Committee for Family and Life is hosting this national event in preparation for the 10th World Meeting of Families (WMF) that will take place in Rome and in dioceses across the world (22–26 June 2022). The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul at MMOG is very excited to launch a Young Vincentians group to welcome in youth in grades 7 to 12 into service work for the community. The Young Vincentians group is modeled after the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul's spirituality and focus of helping others. The launch will be at the masses the weekend of May 14/15 with an orientation session following the 11:00 am mass on Sunday May 29. The group will help with activities such as community barbeques, community gardens, back to school and Christmas program. Volunteer hours will be provided. Beginning Wednesday, April 20th there will no longer be adoration in the sanctuary. Adoration will continue in the chapel. We will no longer have confessions at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday mornings. Confession will offered after morning Mass from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
We will be having Adoration beginning at 2:00 pm, followed by the Hour of Mercy at 3:00 pm, which includes the chaplet of Divine Mercy and Mass. All are welcome, and this Mass will fulfill your Sunday obligation. In preparation for Divine Mercy Sunday, we will offer the Divine Mercy Novena which begins on Good Friday. After the 3:00 pm Solemn Liturgy on Good Friday, we will begin the novena by praying the Divine Mercy chaplet. Please join us for this life changing devotion.
The Knights of Columbus will be holding a Spring Drive for donations of Food, Bottles and Cell phones Saturday April 23rd; 9-3 and Sunday April 24th; 9-1. They will also be holding a Garage Sale only on Saturday, April 23rd 9-3. All food collected will go to The Oakville Fare Share Food bank and all monies raised will go to our Knights charities and good works.
On Friday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m., the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the patron of our Diocese – you are all invited to gather to pray for peace, especially in Ukraine, and in union with Pope Francis, to consecrate Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Join us at Mary Mother of God Parish following morning mass to pray the Rosary in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
