Children’s Liturgy

The Children’s Liturgy of the Word program runs from September to May of each calendar year  The program is now offered at the 9 am and 11 am Sunday masses.  All children in grades Junior Kindergarten to and including Grade 2 are invited to attend.   The objective of the program is to celebrate the liturgy with our children in a way that kindles their awareness of God’s love for them and inspires them to act in accordance with the virtues of our faith. Through songs, readings, guided questions and activities, the children are encouraged to talk about the liturgy and how God’s message can apply to their everyday lives.  The session also provides parents with time for themselves to listen and reflect on the Sunday readings and homily.  Each session is run by a volunteer leader, with the help of an assistant where available. The children are led to the meeting room at the beginning of mass and return during the presentation of the gifts. Parents are welcome to join their child if he/she is hesitant in attending.

If you would like to volunteer for this Ministry, please  contact the Co-Ordinator of the program at  Leaders are required to be 16 years of age or older. Adults are also very welcome to serve as assistants as are students from grades 7 through 12.  Training is provided. The sessions qualify for high school volunteer hours.
